Environmental Health Our Environmental Health Specialists:
- Monitor water quality and work to control pollution
- Track diseases like rabies and the animals that spread them
- Work to keep you and your family healthy by inspecting restaurants, grocery stores and other sites that produce food
- Make sure hazardous materials are handled and managed safely
- Respond to disasters such as floods and earthquakes
- Prevent disease by ensuring proper treatment and disposal of sewage, garbage and other waste.
Senior Nutrition & Transportation Our caring staff works to give seniors healthy meals, reliable rides and a chance to mingle with friends. Some of the services we provide are:
- Delicious lunches at four sites throughout Plumas County. Our guests aged 60 and older, along with their spouses and friends, enjoy more than affordable and delicious meals. They also learn new things, have some fun and entertainment and catch up on lots of good conversation.
- A Transportation Program that gives seniors rides to our lunch sites, doctor appointments, pharmacy, shopping, or related errands.
- Lunch delivery to homebound seniors.
Public Health Clinics & Nursing Services Our nurses and staff provide quality services for you and your family. Some of our low- and no-cost programs and clinics are:
- Immunizations for children and adults
- Preventing the spread of diseases from person to person
- Pregnancy testing and referrals for prenatal care
- HIV and AIDS testing and counseling
- TB testing
- Blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar screening
- Family Planning

Public Health Education & Community Outreach Our programs and staff help you make informed decisions on matters that affect you and your family's health. We work to improve the quality of life in our communities through the following programs:
- Low- and no-cost car seats and bike helmets for kids
- School-based programs to promote life skills and reduce teen pregnancy
- HIV education and prevention services to help those at highest risk to stay healthy
- Support to outreach sites that give people access to resources, computer technology and local services
- Increasing access to computer technology, training and jobs
- Reducing tobacco related illness and death through education, limiting exposure to secondhand smoke, stopping illegal sales of tobacco to youth and helping those who want to quit smoking or chewing
- Assisting local groups and individuals in thoughtful planning for a healthy future for Plumas County.
